Objective
Develop SCUT as a communications terminal that can preserve a consistent node experience while the underlying transport changes.
Work
The current application includes persistent local identity, Supabase-backed network synchronization, remote-node discovery, realtime text communication, and working audio/video calling.
The acronym was updated to Seamless Communications Utility Terminal to reflect the broader transport-independent direction while retaining the project's restrained science-fiction presentation.
Result
SCUT has progressed beyond a messaging prototype into a live communications application. Audio/video calling is operational, and the next architectural work can focus on transport expansion rather than proving the basic communications experience.
Next
The transport plan extends beyond the Internet path toward LAN operation, Bluetooth/native-phone bridging, and Heltec V3 LoRa fallback so nodes can continue communicating when normal connectivity is unavailable.
